In The City I Can't Sing

Post 7.
Post gig, pre next gig. Rehearsal recording of new stuff 19 July 2008.

Harry Lime is a character out of the film the Third Man, although Kev thought it was the name of Chris's school teacher.

Infinity Net is the name of something Russell was on about but wasn't quite sure what it was. This is version 5.

Murray is the song that makes Kevin dance, but not in a good way. This is version 2.

An Evening's Music at the Consitution

Post 6.
So, everything was champion on Friday. Big love goes to Rainey and the Rollcall people for setting it up and keeping us entertained. More props go out to the outfits on the bill, Skylark, QuickBrownFox and Cherry But No Cake for sterling shows and general decentness. Especially Skylark who gave me my cable back after lending them it. Solidarity amongst musicians and cable-owners, the love runs deep.

Best summed up by Russell, Yokozuna's tub thumper, on the Myspace blog.

"Rip this joint peeps are onto something good and no mistake. Venue was just the right size, small enough that it made it feel really busy but not so small that it felt cramped and uncomfortable. Was a bit of a sweat box when we were playing but it was a lot of fun.

QUICKBROWNFOX, were an excellent two piece boy/girl combo. Thought they were a bit more BIKINI KILL than WHITE STRIPES (thankfully) not so much scuzzy garage as rocking old school proper underground indie rock. Top notch set, nice peeps as well.

SKYLARK! tremendocore or joycore?, shouty intenso stuff. Three piece techy hardcore stuff that had shades of BLOOD BROTHERS, BOTCH etc fucking loved it. nice shorts as well : )

CHERRY BUT NO CAKE, no shit they brought the rock properly and no mistake. Seriously bad ass, UNWOUND, SUPERCHUNK style shouty tremendousness. All three bands were outstanding but purely for the epic joy of PENIS BUTTER these guys were my band of the night.

Seriously one of the best shows i've been at in London, outrageous amounts of fun and I honestly would love to play with each and every one of the bands again."

Yoko Go Ok, No?

Post 5
Yes I know. There hasn't been much in the way of updating or blog action going on. My bad. Deal with it. This is why:
  1. month off or so for various house moves, Glastonbury visits and exams
  2. rehearsing hard for gig this Friday
  3. Kev has been in a bad mood
  4. writing new tunes, 2 or 3 of which will be in said gig
  5. Russell coming up with plans of actions (coming soon...)
\\\listening to Dine Alone by Quicksand and Clay by Bitch Magnet - shame on you who never did///

Gig flyer right. Should be good. Watch this space.

this thing IS on

post 2
It's taken a bit of time but I've put up the last 2 releases to date on the sidebar for all you good
people to listen to if you feel like it. And you should. Forget listening on myspace, it's real lame as I'm sure nearly everybody with ears has already figured out.
I understand myspaces popularity and all that but quality is a seriously distant consideration. You'd think being the 5th most popular website in the whole of the kingdom (www.alexa.com) and employing several hundred people that they would have attempted a bump up in quality. Even a tiny one. No. Why? because they don't give a crap. Nothing to do with bandwidth/server space/what people want/delete as necessary. They just can't be bothered. It's like getting a newspaper where they've omitted all the letter E's, N's and W's because you'll kind of understand the words without those letters and hey, ink is saved too. Yes, we do understand the words, but the experience is seriously underwhelming and not as originally intended by the author. Assholes.

Don't get me started on Youtube.

Erm, the next couple of posts will be the mp3's of these tracks to download/pass around/do whatever with. In fact, please do, go ahead, you have our permission. There's a little story behind each one so maybe I'll pass that on too.
